  • Fuse # 38 open. Tech traced circuit through harness and found chaffed wire at throttle body area of harness. Repaired wiring and retest. ok. Replaced fuse.
  • Tech checked and advised linkage loose at transmission.

  • Scanned vehicle for codes. Vehicle had the same codes as customer had stated. Checked wiring diagram and found one common fuse that feeds both upstream and downstream O2 sensors. Removed IPDM to gain access to fuses and found #38 was blown. Replaced fuse and checked O2 values. All values are appropriate. Checked for common chafe points on harnesses and all looked good. Suspect a bad A/F or O2 sensor. Customer will return for further diagnosis if light persists. He suspects it had to do with a deep puddle he had to go through recently.

  • Scanned vehicle for codes. No codes were present. Checked charging system and all components passed. Checked voltage at starter and voltage was present, but vehicle did not crank. Replaced starter and the same issue occurred. Verified power and ground supplies and all supplies were good. Checked voltage drop across battery terminals and drop was less than 200mv. Used cables to provide a new ground path and no change. Put booster cables on the battery and the vehicle started every time. Removed cables and it wouldn't start. Installed a new battery and vehicle has started every time. Cell checked battery and the battery smelled of sulfur. Checked all cells and one of them was smoking when the caps were removed. Performed battery test again and even though test came back at 599 cca, the voltage dropped down to 1.4v on some tests, but not others. The original battery had an intermittent internal short.

  • Scanned vehicle for codes. Vehicle had a code B1054 Airbag module open circuit stored in history. Cleared codes and the codes came back once the steering wheel was turned. Suspect bad clockspring. Installed airbag simulator in place of the clockspring and the codes did not return. Clockspring will need to be replaced.
